Nina Backman | From Contemporary Art to Sustainable Futures
Die Reise "From Contemporary Art to Sustainable Futures" führt durch die Geschichte und Gegenwart der finnischen Kunst. Aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven werden Ideen von Wohlbefinden, Natur und Nachhaltigkeit erkundet, die eng mit finnischen Praktiken in Kunst, Design, Essen und traditioneller Kultur verwoben sind. Zentrale Stationen der Reise sind Arbeiten der Künstlerin Nina Backman: In "The Silence Project" erforscht sie das einzigartige Konzept der Stille in der finnischen Kultur, während ihr neues Projekt "A Million Trees to Finland" durch die künstlerische Praxis des Pflanzens von Bäumen und Mini-Wäldern erfolgreich den Klimaschutz an der Basis fördert. Ein Höhepunkt wird Backmans partizipative Performance "The Silence Meal" sein.
Die Reise wird in Zusammenarbeit mit Visit Finland, Helsinki Partners, Visit Tampere, den Serlachius-Museen, der Kunststadt Mänttä-Vilppula, dem Mänttä Art Festival, der Hyytiälä Forest Station, Finnlands Nationalem Kunstmuseum (Ateneum), Amos Rex, der Taidehalli - Kunsthalle Helsinki, dem Restaurant Kajo, und der Weintaverne Vuorenmaja organisiert.
From Contemporary Art to Sustainable Futures by Nina Backman
The journey "From Contemporary Art to Sustainable Futures" goes through the history and current possibilities of Finnish art. Woven through multidisciplinary explorations will be ideas of well-being, nature, and strategies for sustainability – each closely linked to Finnish practices of art, design, food and traditional culture. The journey will be further framed by "The Silence Project", an ongoing initiative by the artist Nina Backman which explores the uniquely significant concept of silence in Finnish culture, and also her new project, "A Million Trees to Finland", which is successfully inspiring grassroots climate action through the contemporary art practice of planting trees and Miniforests. One highlight of the journey will be the performance of Backman’s "The Silence Meal".
The trip is organized in cooperation with Visit Finland, Helsinki Partners, Visit Tampere, Serlachius-Museums, Art Town Mänttä-Vilppula, Mänttä Art Festival, Hyytiälä Forest Station, Finland's National Art Museum (Ateneum), Amos Rex, the Taidehalli - Kunsthalle Helsinki, the restaurant Kajo and the Wine Tavern Vuorenmaja.
