Das Astrup Fearnley Museet präsentiert eine Einzelausstellung der multidisziplinären Künstlerin und Filmemacherin Cauleen Smith (geb. 1967). Smith ist international bekannt für ihre visionären Arbeiten, die sich auf das experimentelle Kino der 1960er und 1970er Jahre, Science-Fiction-Filme und -Literatur sowie afrodiasporische Erfahrungen und Gedanken stützen. Smith setzt Improvisation, Musikalität und originelle Recherchen für Film, Video, Live-Feed-Projektion und Diaprojektion ein. Die Ausstellung bietet einen umfassenden Überblick über Smiths produktives Schaffen und zeigt erstmals ihren neuesten Film THE DEEP WEST ASSEMBLY (2024), der vom Astrup Fearnley Museet in Auftrag gegeben wurde.

Astrup Fearnley Museet presents a solo exhibition of work by multidisciplinary artist and filmmaker Cauleen Smith (b. 1967). Internationally known for visionary works that draw on experimental cinema from the 1960s and 1970s, science-fiction films and literature, and Afro-diasporic experience and thought, Smith deploys improvisation, musicality, and original research for film, video,live-feed projection, and slide projection. The exhibition offers a comprehensive view of Smith’s prolific output and will premiere her latest film, THE DEEPWEST ASSEMBLY (2024), commissioned by Astrup Fearnley Museet.
