Mit „Benedikt Hipp – Songs from the Orbs“ widmet das Emil Schumacher Museum einem der profiliertesten Künstler seiner Generation eine Einzelausstellung. Benedikt Hipp (*1977) arbeitet zwischen Malerei, Skulptur und Installation. Im Zentrum seines Werks stehen grundlegende Fragen nach Körperlichkeit und Wahrnehmung, nach Materie und Veränderung sowie nach der Beziehung von Mensch, Raum und Umwelt.
Der Titel „Songs from the Orbs“ geht auf eine zwischen 2021 und 2025 entstandene multimediale Skulptur zurück, in der Hipp Keramik und Video miteinander verbindet. Um das Unvorstellbare begreifbar zu machen und eine Relation zwischen Erde und Universum herzustellen, hat der Künstler einen einzigen, mit bloßem Auge unsichtbaren Mikrometeoriten in die Keramik eingearbeitet.

With "Benedikt Hipp – Songs from the Orbs", the Emil Schumacher Museum is dedicating a solo exhibition to one of the most prominent artists of his generation. Benedikt Hipp (b. 1977) works across the fields of painting, sculpture and installation. At the heart of his work lie fundamental questions about physicality and perception, about matter and change, and about the relationship between people, space and the environment. The title “Songs from the Orbs” derives from a multimedia sculpture created between 2021 and 2025, in which Hipp combines ceramics and video. To make the unimaginable comprehensible and to establish a connection between Earth and the universe, the artist has incorporated a single micrometeorite – invisible to the naked eye – into the ceramic piece.
